Solution for Windows Hello Facial recognition unable to add

When I was re-deployed Windows 11 24H2 on my Surface Pro 9 device, following the instructions on OOBE window to create a new local account with also setup Face ID and everything running normal. However, when I trying to create another local account with different name then trying to setup with Windows Hello Face ID it prompt “Sorry, something went wrong…”. In this post I’ll sharing solution to resolve this issue.

Resolution

To resolve this issue simply following below steps:

1.Navigate to “C:\Windows\System32\WinBioDatabase” folder.

2. Delete all .DAT file under this folder. (require administrator rights)

3.Once completed, navigate to Settings > Account > Sign-in options > Facial recognition (Windows Hello) > Set up. Following the instruction to completed the setup.

Conclusion

Windows Hello Facial recognition does not allow the same face /or Face ID to be used by different local Windows account. So in order to using Face ID for your another local Windows account either you delete biometric date for current one or adding a different face.
